Roald Dahl's The BFG Gets a 2016 Film Release

I love love love the story of Sophie and the BFG. I recently read the book to the boys I homeschool and was overwhelmed with that Roald Dahl magic all over again.

I think most book lovers have similar feelings about movie adaptations of our beloved books but I have pretty high hopes for The BFG film.

Steven Spielberg is directing the DreamWorks/Disney adaptation of Dahl's classic. They've recently announced a July 1, 2016 release date, which is basically PERFECT since my birthday is the next day. Roald Dahl themed party? I think so.

You can learn more on the Roald Dahl website.

Roald Dahl

At first, I was going to post about these awesome Roald Dahl mugs I found on A Cup of Jo. But when I searched later and found the Roald Dahl store, I found even more wonderful things. Like this special edition, "The 30 Gloriumptious Years of The BFG". It's a large paperback edition complete with Quentin Blake illustrations and a hardback slipcase.

I loved reading "The BFG" when I was younger and have a pretty nice hardback edition, but nothing compares to this really beautiful gold edition.

Paper Dahls

No matter how old I get, I'll always enjoy reading Roald Dahl. And these 3D illustrations by Roadside Projects (aka Jayme McGowanfor Dahl works have inspired me to give "Matilda" another go this weekend.

Illustrations are such an important part of what makes a children's book successful. Although I'll probably always prefer the classic Dahl illustrations, it's great to see a refreshing spin on the stories. Check out more of Jayme's illustrations HERE.

Roald Dahl

This just inspired me to spend the evening reading The BFG.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” – Roald Dahl.
