happy new year, no promises

Every New Years Eve since starting this blog, I've promised myself I will post more often. I will write more posts of substance. I will conduct most interviews. I would review more books.

And I always end up feeling like I've fallen short of those promises.

Which means I'm not really doing what I want to do with this blog.

To Be Shelved doesn't have ads. So, I don't have any quotas to make with pageviews for my advertisers. It also means I really can run it on my terms and only post about what I want to post. There have been times where I've been tempted, either on here on on the To Be Shelved Tumblr, to write about Dr. Who or Hunger Games, two topics I know absolutely nothing about, just for pageviews. And I'm glad I never hit publish, because that's not what I like.

The point is, this year New Year, there are no resolutions for this blog. No promises.

If I've learned anything in 2013, it is to keep doing what I love and not to worry about how it looks from the outside. I've quit my job, moved across the country and taken my own path. So far, it has worked out alright. More than alright.

So happiest New Year to all. I hope in 2014 we can all work a little less and just let things happen as they should.
