Bookends DIY

Remember those beautiful Anthropologie bookends I posted last week? No, I'm not about to try to teach you how to make them, but somebody else made them for me! A friend from work made a set for me and a set for our friend Meg and it was such a nice surprise to see them on my desk when I returned from Mexico.

They don't have any of the moss or trees, but I love how clean and natural they are. They actually go really well with my furniture and the general aesthetic in my bedroom. (Please ignore the unsightly lines my camera has been making. I've been meaning to get it fixed.)

I currently have them separated. One on my windowsill next to my super colorful Wallpaper* City Guides, and one between the Updikes and notebooks on my vanity.

I'm thinking of maybe adding some colored paint to them eventually, but for now they'll stay as they are.

Thanks, Graham!

slanted / sassy

So my mom always tells me that whenever I'm standing looking at something, sizing it up, I slant my head a bit. Especially when I'm getting ready and looking at myself in the mirror (I've noticed my cat does this as well, so what does that mean?). Anyway, while I was looking at this photo, I realized I had tilted my head a bit and thought of this other picture taken of me while I was 4 years old and in the utopia that is a Disney cruise.

So I guess for me, the similarity comes from a family joke. But also, I really do own slanted bookshelves.

Christmased Bookshelf

My bookshelf has been Christmased. I love having these white lights up in my bedroom.
