Animal Farm

It might be because I switched high schools after my freshman year, but I somehow missed out on reading a lot of the books people seem to associate with their high school lit classes. One of those is "Animal Farm". I've had a copy lying around for a while and since it is a small size and perfect for CTA reading, I decided to give it a go today. I finished it one bus stop before my apartment and I kind of have no opinion about it. It was alright, I understand why it is a huge part of literature courses but I don't understand why so many people love it.

I did enjoy browsing through the dozens of covers that have been created for it. It is always interesting to see all the different takes a designer or illustrator can have on a classic (remember Emma's?).

If you absolutely LOVE "Animal Farm", I'd enjoy hearing why.

The whole book is a political satire on communism, democracy and capitalism--so basically on society together. At the end of the book, everyone is practically dead and pigs run the barn, a parallel to society in Orwell's time, which is actually still relevant now.

Thanks anon, but I understand what the book is about and why it is important and relevant. I just didn't enjoy it.
