To the Harbormaster

I decided to stop in Barnes & Noble on a walk back from a meeting today. I ended up spending an hour with Frank O'Hara's Meditations In An Emergency.

The first poem in the book is To the Harbormaster (click to read the poem) and I just couldn't turn the page, which got me to thinking about how a good novel should make you excited to turn the page and see what's next. But, a good poem will have you lingering, thinking about each line and really being in that moment.

Also, browsing the poetry shelves made me realize there aren't very many poetry book cover designs I actually like. Maybe someone should start working on that. A book of poetry deserves a good cover, too.
